Shopping in Charleroi
I've started going up to Charleroi more often to go shopping or just hang out. It provides a nice middle ground to meet my exchange student friends since its not too far from any of us. It takes me 40-50 minutes on the bus. This is my friend Emily and me on our first shopping adventure together! It's not the safest city...actually, it's pretty much the ghetto of Belgium. An exchange student actually already got jumped by eight men and had surgery this year...but it is the closest city to me and it's not so bad during the day.

Hi CM -- Belated happy birthday! Looks like you're having a fine old time and having some nice adventures. You're right to just eat what's presented and ask few questions, but am totally with you on the suspicious liver dish... I remember being given "white bait" in New Zealand -- tiny wee fish with their heads and EYES intact all clumped together in a fried fritter... eeeewwww.... but that was nothing compared to the sheep brains called "sweetbread"... if that isn't false advertising I don't know what is...! Lots of love -- Megan

Being americans in belgium, we have one 18 year old daughter here, and two kids in college in minneapolis. We live between namur and dinant on the muese in profondville. our daughter would love to meet some americans before she goes to the states next year. if you and your friends would like a good home cooked meal sometime, please let me know and we will set up a little dinner for all of you with some of julie's friends.
cheers, Randy and Mireille
